D-basics can use a dial–up connection to connect to computers that are in a different computer network. These connections can be used in two ways:
•Sending information using e-mail
In case export files must be send by e-mail, a dial-up connection can be used to connect to the mail server of an Internet provider.
•Extracting information from an accounting package
In case the database of an accounting package is situated on a computer that cannot be reached through a computer network, a dial-up connection can be used to establish this connection. The window 'Network connections' shows a list of available network connections.
This window also offers the possibility to Add, Change or Delete a network connection.
•Add
Push the button 'Add' to create a new network connection. This opens the window 'Network connection' that can be used to enter the settings of the new network connection.
•Change
To change the settings of a network connection, select a network connection entry and push the button 'Change'
•Delete
To delete a network connection, select a network connection entry and push the button 'Delete'.
Note: Extracting information through a dial-up connection is an advanced feature that should only be used in case it is not possible to connect through a 'normal' computer network. |
